Worst Experience Ever

Updated by user Oct 31, 2023

Only heard from Canadadrives once basically saying not their problem. Garbage company.

Original review Oct 16, 2023
Purchased a used vehicle from Canadadrives in June of 2023. Almost immediately after delivery the car started having issues which we were told thats what a warranty is for.

We decided to spend money to fix everything that was going wrong as conveniently the issues we were having were not covered under warranty. Fast forward to October 2023, we called the Volkswagen dealership to book in for an inspection as the car is still showing signs of issue and we wanted them diagnosed. The dealership told us that there was a recall on the car from 2021 and to bring it in immediately as it is a major safety hazard. I called our Canadadrives salesman and he basically stated that repairs will be free and it should have stated recall on the carfax.

We did not receive the carfax until the car was delivered right to our door and we missed the recall on the carfax. Canadadrives should NOT have sold a vehicle with a recall that has not been remedied! This is a bad faith sale selling a vehicle that is a total safety hazard and not disclosing this recall to us or discussing the carfax shows theyll do anything for a sale. No doubt the problems we have been experiencing stem from this recall and we will get this in writing from the Volkswagen dealership.

Not only do we have to take time off work and lose money to drive almost two hours to the dealership to get it fixed, this recall should have been disclosed to us and this vehicle should never have been sold to us if there was a chance that it could burst into flames as the recall states being one of the MANY hazards of this recall. We are not impressed and this has been the worst experience purchasing a vehicle we have ever had.

Plus when we received the car it was absolutely filthy and the back seat was covered in dog hair and they state that they do a full detail (and safety inspection) prior to delivery, ya right! Canadadrives are absolute scammers.

Disorganized company

Wanted to buy a car, but their system is totally crap. I signed the bill of sale but it couldn't get to the final step because the website would keep loading a blank screen. Turns out the bill of sale was deemed void and someone else bought the car. And they have no record of it despite I have a copy from docusign. Totally ridiculous

Car Blew Up

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We bought a kia magentis from Canada drives in april 2020, on july 8th we had planned a trip to Kamloops, a 7 hour travel. 3 hours out from Kamloops our car blew up, we were left on the side of the road for two hours had to pay $500 for the tow truck and another $250 to get to Kamloops from the mechanic shop.

The car needs and entire new engine, $4,000 quote from the mechanic and Canada drives asked us how much of that we want to pay???????? We have had this car for four months, Canada drives promised a reimbursement for the tow truck and cab ride and they have now completely ignored us.

Canada drives is the WORST place to get a vehicle from, I will never recommend them. all the representatives are ignorant and rude, no resolution to any problems.

Canada Drives - Dont do it!

So me and my hubby were in desperate need of a vehicle. We applied through canada drives since we heard it was easy.

We got approved for a 2008 jeep compass with 224922 kms on it for 25 000$.

We and my hubby were making alot of money so even though we knew the price was ridiculous, we agreed to take it. No problem there.. once we received the jeep, nothing but problems with it! First it wouldnt start, then it would over heat, then the door wouldnt shut and now the motor light is on.

My hubby got frustrated and took another look at the canada drives contract.

He looked at the carfax and it said that the jeep had over 360000 kms on it last time it was inspected!!!!! That being said, when we received it, it had 224922 kms on it. They rolled back our kms by over 120000 kms!!!!!

We bought the jeep to get from edmonton to nova Scotia and then back again. We made it 3 quarters of the way.

Beach if privacy information?

Three years after registering with Canada Drives (and then leasing a car elsewhere) I still get calls from dealerships trying to sell me a car. To be expected, I suppose. That is what I signed up for. Canada Drives does -not- remove your information when advised of your successful purchase/lease. Why? Because they continue to make money on your information: selling your information (outdated or not) is how they make money. What bothers me is that I am now receiving emails from Pacific Seed Bank using the email address I only ever used with Canada Drives Canada Drives appears to sell your information to unrelated 3rd parties. I'm currently waiting on a response on an inquiry made to their privacy officer...

Do not deal with this company

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have had nothing but stress with these guys. I had an agreed upon deal that was supposedly good for one day, then the rep disappeared - they said he was fired. I finally got ahold of someone else 24 hours later on Halloween. They gave me 3 hours notice that night to take delivery of the vehicle in a city an hour away. When I couldn’t make it, they demanded $1500 to honour the deal. They use high pressure tactics, are dishonest and prey on people.

This company also goes by the name of Fresh Start Finance. Really bad news. They rush you through a online application and in the end you get NOTHING. They want you to pay THEM for three years before they'll even give you half of what you've already paid them. Check Better Business reviews please.

Not a loan

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
hi there so I signed up for an agreement on the 10th of October not knowing that it is not actually a loan, I wanted money now which is why I applied and I would like to cancel this. You want to take money from me and then in 3 years give some of it back to build my credit, this was not explained to me as the lady on the phone rushed through the contract

Inexplicable loan application obsession

I saw their ad which reads something like " Find out how dealers are getting rid of unsold new car inventory ", the implication being that somehow these people can get you a better deal on a car than the dealerships can or can at least steer you in the direction of rock bottom new car prices. Ok, I contacted them and requested access to their car inventory.

They absolutely would NOT give me inventory access without me filling out a loan application. Seriously. I told them I needed to see their inventory to at least find a car I was interested in BEFORE I discussed financing, but they are unshakable in their obsession with making you fill out a loan application. They refused to answer my questions and flat out told me that nothing will happen with them unless I fill out the stupid loan application.

I told them I was going to pay cash for the car, I don't need a car loan, they still want a loan application.

Like Judge Judy says, " If something doesn't make sense, it's probably not true ". In this case I really smell a scam.

I filled out a form online, received a phone call and had my credit run

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I filled out a form online with a link through auto trader under the guise of seeing a larger inventory of cars. Later that day a Blake called me and confirmed my personal information under the guise of sending me car options.

Then he revealed his true intentions when he asked for my drivers license and a pay check. I refused and asked him if he intended to check my credit. He told me he already did!!!! He told me they can do a credit check with your full name and address.

I told him to cancel my application immediately and he better have not ran my credit. He became very rude and the conversation ended. I received a call and hour later from someone else saying they were processing my application and I was pre approved . I was furious.

She told me I could take it up with equifax or the other one (as she didn’t even know who trans union was).

I am furious. After I had asked them to stop this process they proceeded anyway.

The most disorganized, annoying and unprofessional company I have ever dealt with

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
applied for a car loan, first they tried to overprice and push the first *** car , we declined, then came back with another car, once we picked the car the *** began. no lies, document verification, verisign, bank statement, employer contacts etc,etc at least 7 or 8 times, different high Pitched Australians asking the same info to be sent again and again, after 3 days of going back and forth, now comes in the delivery team the same incompetent, annoying nonsense all over again. stupid aps for photo id verification had to be repeated 4 times while the parrots on line repeat the same things over and over ( all along they are trying to appease us by saying, oh don't worry you will get your beautiful car delivered to night . Finally the verification is done on the 4th day, i think i can rest in peace but no, the insurance guys will be calling now to do the same *** again. I honestly wish i had never contacted them, i have bought and sold many cars but this has been an absolute night mare.
